THE IMPACT OF LE TOUR DE L'ESPOIR ON THE CAMEROON BRAND.

The name of the event itself is very revealing. Cameroon has often returned the image of a nation that is not capable of organizing world-class sport competitions. The opposite has been proven with ''LE TOUR DE L'ESPOIR 2018'': http://www.tourdelespoir.cm/ This competition consisted of four stages for fifteen mainly African teams; on a course of 417km. LE TOUR DE L'ESPOIR is one of six events on the International Cycling Union calendar counting for the U23 nations cup in 2018. The brand Cameroon will be able to surf on the energy/aura of this international competition that it could organize without too much burden. In view of the stay that organizers and participants will have spent in our dear nation, we can hope for a '' word of mouth'' more than positive from them. And now counted them as valorous ambassadors of the Cameroon brand internationally. Events, whether sporting or otherwise, are generally considered ''the armed ar...

HOW LUXURY BRANDS HAVE MANAGED TO DEVELOP THANKS TO HIP-HOP?

For a brand to develop, it must be able to embody a number of intangible values. These values are usually the direct link between the brand and the consumer. It's on the basis of this emotional relationship that the consumer will forge a strong bond with one such brand sooner than another. As their name suggests, ''brands'' must leave an indelible imprint on the subconscious of their consumers. In reality 90% of the acts of purchase are decided in this zone of the human conscience. A brand being something irrational, immaterial, imperceptible, virtual; it must be grafted on to an ambassador and a community that will allow him to become something real, palpable. So to be able to reach his target. The brand to be realized must leave the world of ideas: It must be able to materialize in the real world through individuals that it has meticulously chosen. As much, these individuals will have to surf on the aura of the brand, as much the latter will also have to feed on the en...

WHY THE BRAND FRANCE IS BACK?

With the election of Emmanuel Macron as president of France, the perception of the world of this nation has changed completely. It blows an air of change in the air. Finally, it seems that everything is possible in a nation where success is not often very well understood. At least, it's governed by complex codes that do not want you to succeed too much or too fast. This election gives the impression that France will finally take on its full dimension as a nation and one of the main engines of Europe. The age and dynamism of Emmanuel Macron would let us believe that France is a start-up with very high growth potential. And that in five years she would go to the "unicorn" stage. We are not unaware that the concept of brand derives its value from its irrational/emotional aspect even if the brand is driven by the best product. In the person of Emmanuel Macron, France has found a weighty ambassador, that is, the physical materialization of his emotional values. The char...

WHY SHOULD AFRICAN BANKS LEARN TO BUILD THEIR BRANDS?

Branding can be a complex exercise when operating in the banking industry. Generally, when a company doesn't offer a tangible product, the notion of brand for it is difficult to exercise. Why, because it is directly related to the person providing the service to the consumer. The concept of brand in the banking industry therefore requires two fundamental aspects more than in any other industry : Brand building  Brand integration   Why brand building on the one hand?  No matter what market you operate on, your products/services will not stand out if there is no emotional connection between your product/service and the consumer. The only entity that can create a direct link between the consumer's unconscious and the product you put on the market is the brand. Maybe we should start by defining what a brand is? After many reflections and consumer studies, we have put together a definition that is unique to the notion of brand. For us, a ...

WHY SHOULD COMPANIES LEARN TO FAIL TO INNOVATE?

Flexibility is a major element for companies to adapt to changing market conditions. Companies that are generally not customer-oriented end up losing out when their needs or concerns change. The notion of innovation can prove to be something complex for companies of a certain size. Innovating or creating products or services that are on their time and compatible with the needs of consumers can be a rather complex task. Why that? The needs of consumers are constantly changing. And any company whishing to remain at the top of its financial form must be able to anticipate the needs of its customers. This therefore requires some risk-taking in terms of research and market testing. Innovation means failure. As much as the probability of a new product being accepted on the market is great, so much is its probability of being rejected equally great. It is difficult for business owners to consider the financial loss associated with innovation. Except, the competition in the business worl...

THE LOGIC BEHIND THE ACT OF PURCHASING OF THE CAMEROONIAN CONSUMER.

In principle, the brand must be the main driver when it comes to a consumer to acquire a good or a service. How does the brand push for the purchase? Unlike a product X which has no value on any market, apart from the physical product itself or the service. A brand when it is supported by two pillars: The tangible aspect Who is the product or service. That's,  the raison d’être of the brand.      2. The intangible aspect  What are the values, the ideals by which the product is carried in time and space. And which effect of emotional connection with the consumer. As  well as,  demarcation factor in the market. Indeed, for a brand pushes a consumer to purchase, it must write a message in the subconscious of the latter. The unconscious which is reputed to be the seat of desires and passions according to Dr Freud. And that also seems to be the dark area of the human personality. Area in which, are repressed all the aspec...

WHAT'S BITCOIN?

Bitcoin is a form of digital currency, created and held electronically. No one controls it.Bitcoins aren't printed, like dollars or euros-they are produced by people, and increasingly businesses, running computers all around the world, using software that solves mathematical problems. It's the first example of a growing category of money known as cryptocurrency. Why bother using it? True to its origins as an open, decentralized currency, bitcoin is meant to be a quicker, cheaper and more reliable form of payment than money tied to individual countries. In addition, it's the only form of money users can theoretically ''mine themselves, if they (and their computers) have the ability. But even for those who don't  discover using their own high-powered computers, anyone can buy and sell bitcoins, typically through online exchanges like Coinbase and LocalBitcoins. A 2015 survey showed bitcoin users tend to be overwhelmingly white and male, but of var...

SMART CITIES ON THE RISE.

If you haven't heard about the smart city phenomenon yet, you will soon, if IHS Technology's report  about potential smart city growth proves accurate. The smart city trend is evolving quickly from one off-projects impacting single-function applications, such as street lighting or traffic flow, to large-scale, municipal capital investments integrating multiple city services and departments. IHS expect the number of  smart cities worldwide to quadruple within a 12-year period spanning from 2013 to 2025.Under IHS' definition, there will be at least 88 smart cities globally by 2025, up from 21 in 2013.Annual investment on smart city projects, which reached slightly more than one billion Dollar in 2013, is predicted to surpass twelve billion Dollar in 2025. Smart city definition vary, but IHS thinks of smart cities as those that have deployed-or are piloting-the integration of information, communications and technology (ICT) solutions across three or more different funct...

THE IMPACT OF AUTOMATION AND AI ON JOBS.

As computers began to appear in offices and robots on factory floors,President Jhon F. Kennedy declared that the major domestic challenge of the 1960s was to ''maintain full employment at a time when automation...is re placing men.'' In a column in the Guardian, stephen Hawking wrote ''that the automation of factories has already decimated jobs in traditional manufacturing, and the rise of artificial intelligence is likely to extend this job destruction deep into the middle classes, with only the most caring, creative or supervisory roles remaining''. He adds his voice to a growing chorus of experts concerned about the effects that technology will have on workforce in the coming years an decades. The fear is that while artificial intelligence will bring radical increases in efficiency in industry, for ordinary people this will translate into unemployment and uncertainty, as their human jobs are replaced by machines. A report put out in February...

THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF WATER SCARCITY.

Without water, neither small businesses nor major global industries can function. Not family farms or major agrinusinesses. Not energy production facilities or computer manufacturer or steel companies.Similarly, poor water quality, or limited or unreliable access to water means higher costs for all businesses - and all consumers. Water scarcity means greater risks for community's long-term viability and a negative impact on their competitiveness. It also means that a comunity's ability to grow and create jobs is at risk.Regardless of whether water has become the new oil, one thing is certain: water is ironically both  taken for granted and serves as the engine of our economy. If not proparly managed, water scarcity will directly affect the local ability to grow and create jobs. Here are five consequences, of water scarcity: Increased global conflict Fresh water resources   are often   shared by   two or more countries which may lead to more international confli...

THE ECONOMIC IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE.

Temperature rise due to climate change may radically damage the global economy and slow growth in the coming decades if nothing is done to slow the pace of warming, according to new research. The researchers behind the study, published in the journal Nature, found that temperature change due to unmitigated global warming will leave global GDP per capita 23% lower in 2100 than it would be without any warming. '' We are basically throwing away money by not addressing the issue,'' said Marshall Burke, an assistant professor at Stanford University. '' We see our study as providing an estimate of the benefits of reducing emissions.'' Their conclusions delivers two blockbusters.First, in contrast to past studies, they argue that 21st century warming could lead to huge global-scale macroeconomic impacts. The best estimate from Burke and colleagues is that business as usual emission throughout the 21st century will decrease GDP per capita by 23% below w...

IS DIGITAL COMMUNICATION ADAPTED TO THE AFRICAN MARKET?

With the arrival and use of increasingly massive social networks by 15-40years Saharan Africa, it is essential to ask the question, if the digital communication is adapted to the African market. Who said digital communication, said Internet as their primary means of communication. The penetration rate of internet sub-Saharan Africa is it high enough so that the growing craze observed, communication and marketing agencies for digital communication? According to studies conducted in the field, only 9.4% of households in sub-Saharan Africa have access to the Internet in May 2015. The share of consumers in sub-Saharan Africa with access to internet remains low. It can not be an efficient digital communication without a minimum rate of Internet penetration of around 35-40% of the target population. So we would be tempted to think that the majority of advertising agencies and marketing sub-Saharan Africa using digital as their new playground, are in the followership. Do no...

"There is a  growing gap between those who are able to easily connect to the  world march ; and those who remain  out of it. For these, a large number of social, economic and  political opportunities  are inaccessible" -Mark Graham Africans  are among the least connected to the Internet in the world, according to a  map made  by two researchers at the university of Oxford in the UK.   Ralph  Straumann and Mark Graham identified on a world map all the most  disconnected  countries worldwide Internet using data from the World Bank  Development Indicators  2013 and those of Natural Earth.   This map   highlights the   most areas  that are hardly connected to the internet and by extension that are" largely  kept away from participation in cultu...
